Upon initial inspection, I explained that the most cost-effective and logical first step would be to inspect the system’s suction point, even though the U-tube manometer was showing acceptable readings. After inspecting the suction point, it was determined that the sub-slab material consisted of pea gravel, which is ideal for soil gas collection and airflow. Based on these findings, the next recommended step was to replace the existing fan, as it was not designed specifically for radon mitigation.
